The Product Design
For our product design , in a collaboration with http://sonalikhosladesignportfolio.blogspot.com/ we decided to create a travel product. Our key point was to develop something that was practical , comfortable and easily transportable. As many ideas came along , we decided on creating a neck pillow which its below side turns into a sleeping mask , and also a blanket can be stocked inside. It is a 3 in 1 product that can be taken anywhere
Our concept board
As for the logo we decided to combine both of our names together Ana + Sonali. The design was inspired by an Indian symbol as it's shown on the concept board.
the closure on the bottom turns into a sleeping mask as shown below. The blanket also goes inside

The photo shoot
The photo shoot took place at the Oak Room at the iconic Plaza Hotel. My friend Sophie who is a professional model agreed in modeling for me.
Welcome to Hollywood!!!!
Many concepts came along. I was sure that I wanted to capture the glamour and excitement of the old Hollywood , depicting movie stars , the red carpet , flash lights , limousine and of course the famous Hollywood sign as if it were in a movie board. I wanted to bring back that old Hollywood associated with big dreams and iconic faces
My second concept was actually having the Los Angeles landscape being crossed out by a red carpet leading toward the Hollywood sign
I decided to incorporate stars on a black surface which alluding to the city light as Hollywood stars. The red carpet crossing the city leading to the iconic sign floating in the background
The final result! Multiple stars were added as if they were condensing , interlacing with each other
My favorite image was painted in acrylic. I decided to keep the red carpet but giving it more foreshadowing, and atmosphere perspective. I placed the Hollywood sign o its cliff and used geometric shapes to represent the skyline of LA. I also incorporate the greyscale exercise that we did in class onto the sky
The fashion project
Our second week was dedicated to fashion. After a visit to the MET Museum , our class was challenged to design any garment desired inspired by one of the Louis XIV rooms.
I picked the room above. I was enchanted by the red tone and gold elements |
These columns really caught my attention for their elaborated gold features and and opulent details. They really emphasize the lavish lifestyle of king Louis XVX
I decided to incorporate the shape of the column onto the dress and keep the same floral pattern . |
Thin fine gold paper was used and individually hand cut to make the flowers that were to go on the skirt |
duck tape was used to give strength in order to place the waxy white paper. Golden ribbon was used on the skirt to make the same patter as the column |
The final result. |
Sumi ink figure drawing
These are two abstract representations of a nude female body wrapped around a big piece of paper. I was interested in capturing the movement of the body involved around the paper by incorporating wild and and quick brushstrokes.
